Mondstadt Hash Brown
Crispy outside, tender inside potato cakes — the signature breakfast from Mondstadt in Genshin Impact.
Mondstadt Hash Brown is one of Teyvat's most recognizable dishes: a golden brick of grated potato that travellers fry at the campfire to restore their strength. In the game it's cooked by Jean and other heroes of the city of wind. In real life it's a simple potato breakfast made from five ingredients and fried until crisp.
🧺 Ingredients
🍽 3 servings👩🍳 Method
- 1
Grate the potato
Peel the potatoes and grate them on the coarse side of a grater.
- 2
Squeeze out the water
Squeeze the grated potato in a towel to remove excess moisture — this is what makes them crisp.
- 3
Make the mixture
Mix the potato with the egg, flour, salt and pepper.
- 4
Shape the bricks
Heat the oil, spoon in portions and shape them into rectangular bricks.
- 5
Fry until golden
Fry over medium heat for 4–5 minutes per side until golden and crisp.
- 6
Serve
Place on a paper towel to drain excess oil and serve hot.
💡 Tips
- 💡
The drier the grated potato, the crispier the result — squeeze out the moisture thoroughly.
- 💡
Fry on medium heat: too high and the brick burns outside while staying raw inside.
