Food from The Mandalorian: Sustenance on the Galaxy's Edge
Din Djarin (The Mandalorian) and Grogu travel the edges of the Galaxy where civilisation is minimal. Street food of Imperial outposts, Tatooine cantinas, grilled meat over a fire — simple, nutritious food of survival.
History and origin
The Mandalorian (2019) was the first live-action Star Wars series for Disney+. The creators were inspired by spaghetti westerns, and this shows in the food: simple, meaty, trail-style — as in any good western.
Key ingredients
A 'Mandalorian' menu for a themed party: grilled chicken wings (over open fire or in the oven), corn tortillas, dried meat jerky, chilli-roasted nuts and simple dark bread.
How to cook at home
For the 'fire' effect, roast the wings in the oven first (200°C, 35 minutes), then hold them over an open flame or under the grill for one minute. Marinade: smoked paprika, cumin, garlic, lime and a pinch of cayenne.
This recipe will transport you to the atmosphere of your favourite film or series right at your dining table.
