Homer's Pink Donut from The Simpsons
The iconic fluffy yeast donut with glossy pink glaze and rainbow sprinkles that Homer goes crazy for.

The pink donut is a true symbol of The Simpsons: Homer would do anything for a box from Lard Lad. This is a classic American yeast donut — soft and airy inside with a crisp sugary edge. Making it at home is easier than it looks, and the bright pink glaze with sprinkles turns an ordinary dessert into a piece of Springfield.
🧺 Ingredients
🍽 8 servings👩🍳 Method
- 1
Activate yeast
Dissolve the yeast and 1 tsp sugar in warm milk and let stand 10 minutes until foamy.
- 2
Make the dough
Combine flour, remaining sugar, salt, egg and the yeast mixture, work in the soft butter and knead a smooth dough for 8–10 minutes.
- 3
Let it rise
Cover and leave the dough in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours until doubled in size.
- 4
Cut the rings
Roll the dough to 1.5 cm, cut circles with a glass and punch a hole in the center. Let the rings rise for another 20 minutes.
- 5
Fry
Heat the oil to 170 °C and fry the donuts 1–1.5 minutes per side until golden.
- 6
Drain & cool
Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil and let cool completely.
- 7
Pink glaze
For the glaze, whisk the powdered sugar with milk and coloring to the consistency of thin sour cream.
- 8
Glaze & sprinkle
Dip the top of each donut into the pink glaze and immediately add sprinkles. Let set for 15 minutes.
💡 Tips
- 💡
Fry at 175 °C: hotter and the donut burns outside while staying raw inside.
- 💡
Dip the donuts in glaze while warm and add sprinkles before it sets.
🔄 Swaps & variations
- 🔄
Bake the donuts in a mold instead of frying for a lighter, oil-free version.
