Elsa's Snowflake Cookies from Frozen
Crisp sugar cookies shaped like snowflakes with icy blue icing — as if Elsa made the first frost in Arendelle.
Snowflake sugar cookies are the perfect Frozen-inspired bake: crisp sugar dough and blue royal icing made from egg white and powdered sugar. They look beautiful, come together simply and have a wonderful crunch. Make them with children — you will definitely hear "Let It Go".
🧺 Ingredients
🍽 20 servings👩🍳 Method
- 1
The dough
Beat soft butter with powdered sugar. Add the egg and vanilla. Mix in flour and salt to form a soft dough. Wrap in film and chill for 30 minutes.
- 2
Cutting and baking
Roll out the dough to 4–5 mm. Cut out snowflake (or star) shapes, place on a baking sheet. Bake for 10–12 minutes at 175 °C until the edges are just lightly golden.
- 3
Cooling
Cool the cookies completely on a wire rack.
- 4
The icing
Whisk the egg white with powdered sugar to a smooth, stiff royal icing. Add a few drops of blue food coloring and mix.
- 5
Decorating
Apply the icing with a piping bag or toothpick, drawing snowflake patterns. Leave to set for 30 minutes.
💡 Tips
- 💡
Keep the dough cold — work quickly and return it to the fridge if it gets too soft.
- 💡
The icing should be thick enough: when dropped from a spoon it should hold its shape.
